Dr. Martens Octavius Shoe

Quality, durability, style, character, and most importantly comfort. The 5 main things every person should be looking for when purchasing a pair of shoes for the spring/summer. One brand that never fails to impress me is Dr. Martens, at first growing up everyone seemed to feel they only represented the rugged skin head movement. But as we grow older with anything our presumptions on things begin to change with knowledge and experience. With the times of today Dr. Marten continues to lead the pack with great designs and durability. I purchased my first pair of Dr. Martens 4 years ago, I was very sceptical at first. But as soon as I slipped them on I was blown away by how comfortable they are along with their durability. Really there was no way I was losing with such a purchase.

As you know I'm a big fan of anything that is printed, and for the spring/summer season on its way I've been in wanting for a shoe that can satisfy my neediness in prints. The good folks at Dr. Martens recently gifted me a pair of their Octavius Cherry Red shoe. I instantly fell in love with them, not only are they a printed but it's a paisley print. Can you ever go wrong with paisley? I don't really think such a thing is possible. These will be a great contrasting piece for the upcoming season.

Attention To Detail : Subtle Winters

First and for most I would like to say Happy New Year to you all. This is the time where a large amount of people spent their time out partying, drinking away, and celebrating the New Year and a "new you". I spent my new years indoors at home alone trying to stimulate myself mentally watching many clips that featured a various amount of inspirational visuals. Was it as fun as party? Some may argue yes and some may argue now. I could only say I would have rather spent that night out on the town, But meh, it's really just any other night right?

In my previous the post "The Blues", I shared my love and hate relation hip with the color blue. Well as you can see I clearly have caught myself again in the blue. Blue, it is just a very versatile color with a great amount of various tones and shades. This pretty much can fall into any season, without looking like a hot mess. Unlike other colors blue has the ability to not only compliment an outfit but also can be used to add a specific contrast or traditional feel but all at the same time still remain subtle and not too aggressive and forward.

Here's another one of my Herringbone pieces, a blazer I managed to pick up at a shop a while back ago. A great substitution in the winter over a jacket , just for those days that aren't exactly too cold but still need to somewhat bundle up. Not to mention I am and will forever be in love with the elbow patches, ye you guys should know me and my love for detailing. It’s all in the details for me.

It is all over it is finally over, well finals that is. So to really explain lack of posts well...there you have it. But never mind all that I'm back and trying to get the flow back into what I love to share. Speaking of sharing I 'm currently working on my next upcoming series "Whats His Is Hers", yet again just another chapter in all of my visions.

When talking about classic F/W detailing,textures, and patterns Herringbone is right up there in top tier without a doubt.  With such simplicity but at the same time well structured and finished Herringbone truly is winter wool staple that every man should own.

The Herringbone detailing is defined as " An arrangement or design consisting of column of short parallel lines, with all the lines in one column sloping one way and all the lines in the next column sloping the other resulting in resembling bones of a fish, tends to be used in the weave of cloth or placing of bricks."

The great folks at Against Nudity sent me these great pair of plaid trousers. This plaid pattern is minimal and classic, great for pairing them with a solid garment on your upper half. Not only was the detailing of the plaid appealing but also the pocket and button detailing  caught my eye. Really can't take yourself too serious all the time right? The buttons and pocket detailing is a great way to flare out a little bit of character and personality. However, would I wear them to an extremely formal event? Possibly not.

The Neckerchief

Lets get out of the box and say you don't have to be a scout nor a sailor to be able to wear a neckerchief. The neckerchief in my opinion can possibly be one of the best accessories a man can wear. If done right, if not it can just be an absolute disaster.

In the Victorian Era the Neckerchief ( Cravat ) was quite the most popular accessory worn by man. But however in those times it was much more of a formal and up - tight fit of a cravat. However today's contemporary neckerchief, has gone under an extreme transformation.Turning its back on its up tight fitting formal roots to becoming much more easy and free fitting.        

The sole purpose for the neckerchief is to accessorize, they usually tend to be made from silk or cotton and come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Not only is it a big attention grabber, but it brings great quality to an outfit and portray's a man's attention to detail. You really cant go wrong with a neckerchief, if done properly it will always be a win win decision.

I must say the "cuff/rolled up jean" is probably the fastest growing "trend" in style that I have seen in a good while. And for every one who reads my blog knows the cuff is a detail that I am very fond of. Even though rolling my jeans, khakis, or wool trousers is a trend. It is just become second nature to me just before I hit the town for the day.

There are actually a few different styles and techniques when it comes to rolling up your jeans, or maybe its just something that I just came up with in my mind over the years.These cuffs can be used in flexible manners, if your're going somewhere casual but not too urban maybe you would want your cuff to of coarse be a lot neater. Versus someone who is just enjoying a day out on the town.

But the cuffs don't just stop at the jeans. As well rolling up short sleeve t-shirts and button ups, has become a popular trend as of late. This style really originates back to the 50's when it was more functional, the motorcycle greasers would tend to roll their cigarette packs up into their sleeves. With any trend there must have been a functional use to it at one point and time.

Attention To Detail : Frills & Tassels

First and foremost I must apologize for I have been slacking with my updates. I promised myself this summer I will be a much better blogger and push harder with my updates. But when life really starts tugging away at you, you have to deal and roll with what comes with it.

When it comes to footwear there is pretty much a very wide selection of styles you can choose from for any occasion / event. Not many men from who I have come across tend to steer away from slip on's. Why? I have no clue. During the summer season slip on's would probably be my first choice above anything else. The amount of comfort I get from them keep me coming back and ditching the lace ups from time to time. There is nothing better than waking up getting dressed for the day than being able to slip your feet (Literally) into a pair of shoes and be on your way.

With footwear I'm always pulled by the detailing that has been put into the piece. It can be as simple as a color way or stitching of a sneaker to craftsman ship of a wingtip lace up.

Tassels & Frills are a great example for attractive detailing put into a shoe. However many may argue on how "profession" and "appropriate" they may and may not be pending on the surroundings. But in my opinion they add a bit of character to a mans wardrobe, it doesn't ever hurt to show you're human from time to time.

Wrap It Up

Personally one thing I have always had the desire to attempt to wear was a head wrap. I have always been drawn to them visually, but i tend to only see them worn by women. Rarely do I see males wearing them and when I do they look just as good.

 Middle Eastern, Central Asian, South Asian, and Sikh turban wearers usually wind it anew for each wearing, using long strips of cloth. The cloth is usually five meters or less. However, some elaborate South Asian turbans may be permanently formed and sewn to a foundation. Turbans can be very large or quite modest dependent upon region, culture, and religion.

A head wrap s a great way to really bring a dull outfit to life just as much as any other accessory. The head wrap if you think about it is really just a pretty simple accessory, but how you put it together will make a great difference. I just used a scarf that I picked up at a thrift store, the color tones and pasterns of the scarf are perfect for the earthy tones I was looking for so I figured it would suit best for a head wrap piece as well. I greatly encourage my fellow man to give them a try like I always say "style has no sex nor color" if you're confident and comfortable enough to wear a garment, than why not?.

This leather bag is probably one of the best pieces I have discovered at a thrift store yet. I usually tend to use Satchels or Man Purses for school and days out around the town. Mainly because I have it hard to find bag packs that accompany my style. The size of this bag is just right, its not to big and its not to small which makes it really easy to carry my essentials with out it getting heavy, bulky, or loosing its form.

I was somewhat forced by a friend to purchase this shoes/sandals. No way am I a fan of wearing sandals or anything where my feet are somewhat exposed. But I have grown fond of these shoes, the amount of comfort is incredible its as if I have nothing on my feet. I surely will not regret this purchase and will bring my friend along with me as I shop more often.

The Henley shirt is a purchased I made probably 3 years ago. But never wear it, reason being it was buried away deep into my closet. What drew me to this Henley was definitely  the Chinese style collar detail. Most Henley tops I run into tend to just be a straight button up from a V cut.
